Stella Knight Ruess

Stella Knight Ruess was Everett's mother and is recognized as one of his primary artistic influences. In Los Angeles, they worked together in some of the same mediums including linoleum block printing. Later she orchestrated the publishing of his first book, "On Desert Trails", in 1940, Six years after Everett vanished.
We apologize that previously this website has published images wrongly attributed to Everett. These are shown below. If you look you will notice a finer stroke compared to Everett's broad Dixonesque, graphics.
We have kept Stella's images in in the main gallery because of their importance in the appreciation of Everett Ruess.
